Call the Brokerage and have the Agent paged to call you. This will ensure he is a legitimate Agent.
When meeting in person – ask for Realtor Identification.
If attending any showings, make sure you don’t go alone. Take safe steps.
Other Safe Steps
Cash should never be exchanged. No Real Estate Agent or Brokerage will ever ask for or take cash.
Provide no confidential information that can be used to steal your identity.
Never rent a property without seeing it first
Make an appointment to meet with the landlord
Talk to the neighbours if possible
Talk to the Condo Management or Conceirge
Speak with the current tenants. … beware if renter is occupant.
Conduct basic research.
Be aware of too-good-to-be-true rent rates.
Be wary of high-pressure sales tactics such as urgency in placing a deposit immediately
